Why Juice? 

After last week's conversation about eating healthier and adding juicing to your meals, I wanted to dedicate this post to the importance of juicing. Since I bought my Breville juicer a few weeks ago I havent stopped smashing fruits into nutrients! I'm in absolute love with my juicer and I wanted to show my tips and benefits as well as the effect juicing has had on me. Juicing has helped give me an extra boost on my lousy days and give me the veggies and fruits I need in a simple shake.   • Easier way to digest multiple fruits and veggies at once
  • Allows you to get fresh juice that's unprocessed without any added preservatives or sugars
  • Allows you to have an ample supply of micronutrients which help fight cancer and diseases 
  • Facilitates weight loss, increases energy levels, strengthens immunity, strong bones and a glowing complexion

Now that you know a few benefits of juicing, I'd love to share some juicing tips to help you along with this new journey.  

Juicing Tips

  • Thoroughly clean your fruits and vegetables before juicing so that you can avoid the presence of bacteria and dirt in your juice
  • Make sure you buy a good juicer that will easily do the job for you, I purchased a Breville Juice Fountain Compact for $99.99 at Best Buy and I absolutely LOVE IT (Before I had a juicer I was using a blender and it just didn't do the job!) 
  • I wouldn't recommend juicing as a meal replacement for a long amount of time. I would not suggest using juicing for weight loss as I believe there are healthier ways to lose weight without solely depending on juice
  • Juicing extracts the fibers from fruits and veggies so make sure you have a way to get your fibers or use the extracts to cook with in your meals
  • Drink the juice as soon as you make it, no need for leftovers as this increases the chances of bacteria getting in your juice if it's left for a later date to consume
  • Mix the right ingredients so that the taste of the juice is great

Need to Know

    So now that you know the ins and outs of juicing, I would highly recommend going to your nearest store to pick up a juicer and join me on this healthy living journey. Juicing provides a great way for you to gain the many nutrients you may be missing out on in one simple 16oz drink. Check out one of the juices I made above and I will make sure to provide more information in a later post on some of my favorite fruits and vegetables to juice.

    We're back again to provide you guys with more healthy meals to get your week started off right! This week we want to focus on some of our favorite vegan and vegetarian dishes that take less than an hour to prepare. Below I'll show you the ingredients used for each recipe as well as some pictures of the dishes before I devoured them. I'l show you a vegan breakfast, lunch and dinner dishes that are easy to prepare and great to eat!

    Let's try juicing for breakfast! Grab some of your favorite fruits and throw them in a juicer to get your day started off on the right foot. Some of my favorite juicing ingredients are listed below. I will share an article later this week on juicing benefits and more detailed recipes once I get the hang of my new juicer.

    Mango Black Bean Poblano Quesadilla

    I wanted to spice it up for lunch with a quesadilla and spinach to top. This vegan dish was so fulfilling yet light and tasteful. This dish includes:

    We've made it to dinner again! I wanted to use the rest of my tortilla shells so I decided to make eggplant tacos. I served this dish with fresh cut potatoes and a hard shell taco to give an extra crunch on the outside. This dish is absolutely delicious and a definite must try! This dish includes:

    My Hair Growth Journey


    Hair Stress!

    If you're like me then you struggle constantly with your hair. You've tried the YouTube tutorials, the wash and gos, the twist outs yet nothing seems to work! It's frustrating right? I know it's frustrating for me. As to why I've decided to try something new this year with my hair, grow dreads! 

    My Hair Journey

    So when I was a beautiful young child my mother started me off in this world perming my hair. It was great and easy to handle for me until I reached my Freshman year of college and my hair started to thin out. I didn't understand why and I was tired of figuring out styles or getting sew-ins so I decided to go natural. Going natural was great for me. I obtained a new curl pattern for my hair and my thickness came back. Though I was happy with my natural results the manipulation of the many hairstyles I'd do were constantly breaking my hair off. So I'd constantly have hair growth but a lot was breaking off. Seven years later of doing the natural wave I've finally decided to grow DREADLOCKS! 

    Yes, I said it! DREADLOCKS! I'm over the thousands of dollars we spend at the hair dressers and refuse to pay for any more weave! I WILL NOT LOSE ANYMORE STRANDS OF HAIR! I rebuke thee! I am ready to really get in tune with myself and my hair and allow it to not get anymore stress from combs, heat, manipulation or products. 

    Be Different!

    The reason for this journey is that I'm ready to change for 2017 and I hope that I can inspire you to do something different and new as well. Not just something trendy but something that increases your overall health and wellness. Do something for the better for you for once. That's really what I want for myself this year as I start to change so many things in my life, starting with my hair.

    2017 Here We Come!

    Can you believe it's 2017? I feel like it was just last March and I was starting a new journey in a new place. How swiftly last year came and went allowed me the opportunity to really sit down and come up with realistic goals for me to focus on this year. So today I'm here to inspire you guys to let this be your year that you do something bigger and better than ever before!

    New Year Fresh Start

    Let this be Your Year!

    Yep, that's right, 2017 is ALL YOURS! I challenge you all to take advantage of every second, every step and every goal that you set for yourself. Spend time this week to really sit down and create a dream board or just grab your iPad and write out all the goals that you plan to accomplish this year or what you envision seeing before the year ends. We only have 365 days and they're coming and going faster than ever. Once you set your goals, take a step further and write down measurable tactics in order to help reach your goals. Once you complete this you'll be ready to tackle this year confidently and get closer to your ultimate goal.

    Personal Goals

    I have many personal and business goals that I plan to accomplish this year. But none of them will see the light of day if I don't turn my ideas in my head to concrete actions on paper. I like to write my goals down so that I'm able to visually see them come to life. I've seen my fiancé turn paintings that were once in his head into real life tangible items just because he wrote them down. This year I want to push my audience to go bigger and better than ever before. Go harder, whether it be in the gym or on your grind. Take advantage of each day and all your time so that you live life with no regrets. Really get into your dreams and see how you can accomplish them. This is the year where NO is never an answer!

    I hope this post encourages you to live life to the fullest and live 2017 up like no other year! Time is upon us and we must live each day like it's our last.
